hopes & dreams
I’ve been avoiding sitting down to write here, because honestly, what is there to say when parts of the world are being torn apart? We are all wishing, hoping and waiting for peace.
Instead, I’ll just share some good things from my lucky life that I hope will bring light to you if you’re reading this sometime soon.
Above: seaweed sunprints on a small journal I hand-stitched from watercolour paper; fading hydrangeas by the front door; a free-form embroidery sampler made for a class, white thread on navy linen; a bias-cut skirt made from vintage seersucker cotton and the Tessuti Evie skirt pattern.
Below: thread + watercolour paint on recycled cotton.
Below: a trip to Te Wai Pounamu - the South Island; watercolour-inspired crochet (handspun from Mum + grey Brushtale possum yarn) ready to be sewn into a blanket; flowers from my sister T’s summer garden to dry by the fireplace.
And three things I’ve appreciated lately:
Discovering that two Australian painters I admire, Elizabeth Barnett and Stacey McCall, now have a blog where they write letters to each other about their life and work. You can find it here.
The film Tenor: My name is Pati which I saw last night with a friend. It’s so inspiring and warm! I really recommend it.
Falling in love (again) with the work of painter Star Gossage.
